Mendoza Family Update March 2020

We are grateful for all of our friends and family for the continued support, messages, gifts, and check ins. We are glad to be in La Ceiba full time again and looking forward to what is ahead.

We have 6 missions trips planned this year with 3 to La Ceiba, 1 to San Lorenzo, 1 to Spain, and 1 to Cuba.

Everyday here there are many needs and we are happy to jump in and serve where we can in addition to our day to day responsibilities of building Connect Global.

Mendoza Family Update From La Ceiba Honduras

The Mendoza Family has gotten settled in.

Everyday here is wrought with potential for life changing ministry and opportunities to share love with others in both tangible and spiritual ways.

Jorge and Janeth were very instrumental in us getting a great place to rent and having it set up before we arrived

Even while helping us get internet installed and water connected our friend, and National Director, Jorge was able to share his testimony and encourage them. Later that afternoon Jorge invited the Tigo guys for lunch and they prayed together to accept Jesus.

God has some amazing ways of connecting us to those in need if we pay attention and make intentional decisions to follow through.

Our Co Founders and family (Travis, Gina, and Noah) were here with us to help us get our house feeling like a home and they were a great blessing. They helped us set up furniture and paint as well as many other projects to make sure we are set up.

We could not have made this move happen without many of you helping us and making our ministry here a priority. Thank You!

We believe local community leaders hold the key to unlocking exponential positive change and growth for La Ceiba. This community is a shining example of what can happen when we all choose to work together and focus on sustainable solutions.

We have been blessed to meet and work with many great community leaders over the years and we look forward to expanding our programs and completing new projects this year.

One program we are continuing to focus on is Launching a School of Missions in Honduras. This will help us Prepare & Equip Latin American Students to Reach the World through Missions.

We also have several mission trips planned this year where you can jump in and be a part of the success in La Ceiba. We will visit the Girls Home at La Masica, continue to work with the local Fire and Police Departments, Host our annual Mission Conference, as well as many practical projects such as, concrete floors, clean water projects, and more.

If you, your church or work group, or your family would like to join us you are welcome to visit the Connect Global Trips Page and find out more!

We are Currently recruiting high caliber Church leaders, Educators, Medical Professionals and Business leaders to come volunteer alongside us in this initiative. We need you to serve by sharing your skills and talents with the Community.

Come be the answer to a prayer you didn’t even know someone was praying.

The Missionary Heart

“The missionary heart: Care more than some think is wise. Risk more than some think is safe. Dream more than some think is practical. Expect more than some think is possible. I was called not to comfort or success but to obedience….There is no joy outside of knowing Jesus and serving him.”

Difficult Things take a long time, Impossibe things a little longer. - Author Unknown

Sometimes in life things are difficult and may even seem to be impossible.

Fret not because somewhere in the world today someone is achieving the impossible, and you can too. It will not be easy and it will not come without discipline but it just might take a little longer than you expected.

Go and make the impossible happen!

Beauty in Honduras

"To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."

◄ Isaiah 61:3 ►

Our family has now been in Honduras for 12 days. We have been getting settled in and becoming acquainted with our new town and with some really great new families.

Each time we have traveled to Honduras over the past 10 years we have been in awe of the natural beauty as well as the beauty in the love and the grace that surely abounds here.

We have chosen to focus on the beauty and not the ashes. There are families here serving others, there are business leaders improving the community, and there are churches concerned with outreach and not just warehousing believers.

Yes, there is still crime and hurt and disease but there is also peace, and love and good people willing to do what it takes for light to defeat darkness.

Our intention here is to highlight the good going on in this community and embrace solutions rather than dwell on the problems.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we integrate with this community and pray that we would be successful in our pursuit to exchange beauty for ashes.

Why Honduras - Price

This is from a blog series by Travis Moffitt entitled "Why Honduras". Travis Moffitt is Co Founder, President, and CEO of Connect Global.

Price: $1800 + A changed Life

Over the last ten years I have had great opportunities to both lead and attend numerous short- term mission trips. Each with their own specific purpose, style, location and price. I've been a part of mission trips going to locations with the US borders and as far out as Western Europe. With projects ranging from VBS events, to construction projects, to medical relief. And with price tags from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. Variety iIs certainly the name of the game when it comes to short-term mission trips.

Repeatedly I have found myself in the great nation of Honduras. For many reasons I have found this location to be an excellent destination for short-term trips. One such advantage is simply the trip price. At Connect Global we offer a 6 day missional adventure for the low price of $1800 + Your Life.

Let's break that down. $1800 covers your international airfare from your preferred US airport, all ground transportation, lodging, food and trip insurance. Comparatively, that's a pretty low cost threshold when it comes to a short-term mission trip.

The "Changed Life" cost calculates a little differently. At Connect Global we are very intentional about engaging each team member at a heart level. We do not hide the reality that a short-term mission trip is more than an international visit. I can promise you that through a trip of this nature your heart will be stretched and opened up to a whole new world. While we will bring you home alive and well, we will also return you to your family and friends as an entirely new person. The life perspective you once had will be all together exchanged for a new, missional world-view.

A recent study by the research organization, Barna Group, reports that 75% of short-term mission trip team members state that the trip "changed their life in some way." (http://goo.gl/ 7Zn7L8) Many of our experiences have some impact on us but very few could actually be described as "life-changing." Yet that is the most common description of a short-term mission trip.

We believe this equates to an enormous cost with an even greater return. The exchange of the old for the gift of the new. Life, that is. While most of us would say that our lives are great, imagine the fulfillment of an even great life. A change in a more positive direction. Greater clarity of purpose. More awareness of others. A enlarged perspective of the world around you. More sensitivity to the struggle of others and clearer perspective of your ability to actually lessen those struggles.

At Connect Global we say it this way: GO | SERVE | CHANGE.
As you go and serve someone else. Your life, as well as their's, is changed forever.

Our next international journey to Honduras is in April 2015. You can join us for the low cost $1800 + Your Life and receive the incredible life changing benefits. Find out more and sign up at www.goservechange.com/trips.

The label "life-changing" is pasted on many things, but the description fits most short-term service trips. Only one-quarter of those who have participated on such a trip said it was "just an experience," while a majority said it changed their life in some way. The most common areas of personal growth that people recall - even years later - include becoming more aware of other people’s struggles (25%), learning more about poverty, justice, or the world (16%), increasing compassion (11%), deepening or enriching their faith (9%), broadening their spiritual understanding (9%), and boosting their financial generosity (5%). Others mentioned the experience helped them feel more fulfilled, become more grateful, develop new friends, and pray more. Source: Barna Group
