Honduras: Culture

Honduras: Culture

HONDURAS CULTURE

The people of Honduras are very welcoming and hospitable.  Their culture is very open, and it's not uncommon to be invited (especially if you're on a mission trip there) into their home to relax and visit.  The people of Honduras appreciate when Americans come to the country.

Firsthand Experience Quote:

"Since the vast majority of Americans who go to Honduras are going to help improve the Hondurans' quality of life, the people are open and receptive to just about anyone coming from the U.S. This gives Americans a golden opportunity for evangelism and opportunities for discipleship."

Dr. Johnny Moffitt will be a part of Connect Global's Trip this February to Tegucigalpa to visit prisons and train leaders for prison ministry.

Johnny Moffitt has been invited to prisons around the world to teach officials, correctional staff, diplomats, and volunteers how to effectively minister to inmates as well as serve families affected by their incarcerated family members. The prisons of Honduras are in need of hope and the message of Jesus Christ. Our team will make a couple of prison visits as well as train prison leaders, and volunteers.

We are grateful for Johnny's ministry and teaching and he and his wife, Betty Moffitt being able to share their time and expertise on this trip.

Aquaponics Update from Connect Global

The Connect Global Team has been investing in Aquaponics since our inception. Our First Official Trip as 'Connect Global' to Cusuna, we built 5 aquaponic systems. We have learned a lot since then, and our friend and partner Jorge Amador has built many more and taught several people his skills as well. We plan to build and facilitate an Aquaponic Training Center in Honduras in 2019.

Connect Global Visit to the School in El Tamarindo Honduras

Connect Global Loves to support local schools in Honduras.

We believe that education is one of the keys to unlocking the amazing potential that is in each of us. Connect Global partners with 2 schools in La Ceiba to facilitate several students education and supplies. Thank You to our sponsors for making this school year a possible.

The Kids were very happy to welcome our team.

Every child deserves to get a quality education. We sponsor education initiatives and provide resources when and where we can This past August the team was able to hand out free school supplies to help kick-start the new school year.

No gift to a child is too small.

We all loved to be loved. Kids are not the exception they are the rule to this quote. Our team provided tangible gifts but were also able to give a hug, and a smile to let them know that We care and that God cares for them.

They are special and they are blessed to be a blessing and we are happy to have been able to share this truth with them.

Connect Global team members had the opportunity to show love in a very practical way at the school in El Tamarindo.

Connect Global Water Well Project - Completed August 2018

Connect Global Water Well Project - Completed August 2018

In 2016 Connect Global partnered with the Community Water District in El Tamarindo to support a plan to give water to the residents of this remote and very water insecure town. In August of 2018, Connect Global helped complete the final phase of this current plan to bring water to 2 communities near the original well that was dug. Thank You for your support.

As you may remember, we began raising funds to assist a community in Honduras to drill a new water well in their town around December of 2016.

We are proud to report that we have helped complete the next phase of this water project in this remote area of Honduras.

Our team was able to install a new tank, plumbing, and electric pump to help satisfy the needs of the community and increase their water per household tenfold.

The team from House of Grace church in Georgia partnered with us financially as well as by sending a very hardworking team to see the completion of this project.

Thank You to all who financially and spiritually invested in the long-term benefits of clean and healthy drinking water for this community of Estiquirin, Honduras. We are grateful!

In addition to clean water, our team was able to help a local school get a kick-start to the new school year, and we also poured several new Concrete floors which will help several families by keeping the elements out of their homes.

Update From Little Lambs Refuge

Update From Little Lambs Refuge

Here is an update from the Little Lambs Refuge in La Masica, Honduras.

Our Partnership with Proyecto Alcance

We are glad to be connected to this wonderful ministry. We were introduced to the children's home in La Masica in 2015 when Danielle and Saige and I moved to La Ceiba. We visited several times that year and since then have become entrenched in working with the leadership there to support their efforts. We have taken several teams over the past 3 years to engage with Little Lambs Refuge and there have been many individuals who have created deep connections with the kids and the staff.

Together with our partners, we have been able to provide things like spiritual care and support to the kids and leaders, as well as tangible things like new windows, paint, groceries, and financial support.

We are committed to working alongside the leadership here for years to come. We see Connect Global and Proyecto Alcance as ministry partners who care deeply about the welfare and support of the young ones who call this refuge Home.

If you would like to help us support this project we encourage you to pray about how you feel led to partner. We are believing for several people to give monthly towards the home in La Masica.

First Responder Training in Honduras was a Success

First Responder Training in Honduras was a Success

In 2015, Connect Global launched an initiative in Honduras we call Connected Community. As a part of our ongoing support and investment into the Community of La Ceiba, Honduras our team will be providing training for the members of the local police department. The department leadership has asked for a specialized training for first responders to be able to learn life-saving techniques in order to mitigate the loss of life in the field.

Water Well Project - Update 2018

Water Well Project - Update 2018

We are very excited to share with you a fantastic update from Honduras.

As you may remember, we began raising funds to assist a community in Honduras to drill a new water well in their town around December of 2016.

Many people, organizations, and churches have given towards this effort, and over the Christmas Holiday, we received the amount needed to begin making this Water Well a reality.

One of our Partners in Honduras, Jorge Amador, has been helping us coordinate with the community, hire local drilling professionals, as well as provide oversight to the project.

The drilling was initiated on Monday, January 23, and we could not be happier to report that the well was completed. The partners in Honduras also contracted the drilling team to go to a nearby town and drill a second well.

Over the last year, along with our Honduran partners, we developed a plan to help this second town, Estiquirin, get their well completed and water to every resident.

In August 2018, Our Team along with a team from House of Grace church in Georgia will be there to see the completion of this project. This is a big project and will cost about $4,000. We have already received $1,000 towards the goal and invite you to invest in the long-term benefits of clean and healthy drinking water for this community of Estiquirin, Honduras.

Please continue to pray with us as this project proceeds and we wait to see this Clean Water Project be completed!

Together we will not only provide clean water to this town but also a restored faith in Jesus because of answered prayers. Thank You.
