Connect Global Ministry at the Maternity Home continues despite challenges of COVID-19 response and nationwide restrictions
We have been honored to serve 356 moms so far since we opened in September of 2019. We are open 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. We are thrilled to be able to provide care for moms during this time of social distancing and quarantines. Our team has taken great precaution and gone to great lengths to provide a safe, clean environment for our moms. Connect Global has followed the measures outlines by the CDC, W.H.O, and other global sources to ensure that our efforts are in line with the suggested methods of sanitation, and prevention against this virus.
Current Restrictions and shutdown of public transportation has expanded our opportunities to help moms and their newborns.
One of the main ways that the COVID-19 restrictions have challenged several moms during this time is by leaving many without transportation options once they have been successfully discharged from the hospital. Many of the moms we meet are from outside the city and have traveled many hours, in some cases, to deliver their children in La Ceiba. When they are cleared to go home, many are left without transportation. The local buses and taxi services have been suspended in accordance with the strict “stay in place’ orders that blanket the country. The Connect Global team has been able to fill this need and solve this problem for a couple of our most recent moms.
Another challenge has been getting food and making sure we have every supply needed to take care of these moms properly so we can continue to provide a clean, sanitized area for recovery. Our National Directors, Jorge and Janeth have done a great job leading the charge on this ministry and making sure that our team has everything they need. They make almost daily deliveries of milk, eggs, grains, oil, cleaning supplies, gloves, masks and more to ensure that our team is well equipped for normal responsibilities in addition to COVID-19 prevention.

In addition to 3 meals per day, each mom at the Connect Global Maternity Home ministry can expect a clean bed, new laundry facilities, a clothing bank of new and donated clothes, as well as a caring, loving staff.
Connect Global National Director in Honduras, Jorge Amador, was able to drive this family out to their home because public transportation has been suspended due to the COVID-19 restrictions
This Maternity Home is truly a blessing from God and has already been a blessing to over 356 mothers as of April 20th.
