Ten Years Later

Ten Years Later

First Mission Trip

Mission Trip with Morning Star Church in Tampa. Circa 2006

It was in 2004 when I made my first journey outside the borders of the US. I remember standing in line to get my passport, mailing off the application, and impatiently awaiting it's arrival. I remember going to Bill Jackson's to get a trail rated back pack to carry all my stuff. I can distinctly remember the nerves of the night before our flight. Thinking about all the things I jammed into my backpack and wondering if I had enough.

We had been told about the destination and what to expect in pretty good detail, but I still felt a great sense of adventure and anxiety about it. My idea of traveling at the time was pretty limited to Tiki Huts, Island Restaurants, Cruise Ships, and Luxury Hotels. I did not even know what to think when they told me I would need to buy a mosquito net for sleeping.

Looking back ten years it's pretty great to see how far we have come. We have now been back to the village from our first trip over a dozen times. My wife, sister and brother in law, and I have founded Connect Global, (a sustainable mission oriented non profit). We have made friends over the last decade who make this way of life not only productive but extraordinarily exciting.

July 12-19, Travis and I will be heading to Cusuna once again to visit the beautiful friends we have made over the last ten years. .

This time, I am very familiar with my gear and have only packed what I need. I have my freshly renewed passport ready for another "first" stamp and I again have a mix of anticipation, anxiety, and adventure as if it was my first trip ever.

I hope to never lose this feeling and that every trip I make would always bring with it adventure, fun, and most of all positive and lasting improvement for myself and for those I come into contact with.

After ten years I am no longer naive enough to think I can change the world all by myself, I am however, very confident that along with my friends, partners, family and supporters we can and will change this world for the better, one person at a time.

Please "join" Connect Global on this journey by following along on Twitter + Instagram and please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Aquaponic Watermelon in Honduras

Aquaponic Watermelon in Honduras

Billy Chrzan in Honduras has about 10 or so watermelons growing in an Aquaponic system and will be ready shortly.

Aquaponics is an amazing tool for food production. We have several projects coming up to install new aquaponic growing systems in Honduras and Brazil.

We are very excited about the life change possible through aquaponics.

It is time to get out there.

This week is the week to make a decision that you have been putting off. Maybe it's the uncertainty of the outcome, or the perceived danger of stepping out, either way, be encouraged this week to make it happen.

If it is a mission trip you have been putting off, let us be the first to welcome you to sign up for one of our summer trips this week.

You will be happy with the good that comes from getting out there!

Turn Your Pocket Change Into Life Change

Turn Your Pocket Change Into Life Change

One of Connect Global's dear friends has been saving her extra pocket change for an Aquaponic Tilapia Pond. She is about halfway to filling up her 64oz jar and we couldn't be more excited for her and for the life change that will come because of this simple act.

None of us can change the world on our own, but when we work together we can achieve life change one person at a time.

One day soon this jar of coins will be converted into a life giving, sustainable project in Haiti, or Honduras and our Friend Patricia will be the one that made it possible.

You can Turn your Pocket Change into Life Change by filling up your own jar and donating the contents here

We will keep you posted on how this jar of coins makes it's way around the world and makes life better for someone in need.

Send us a picture of your pocket change and we will post it here. Let's see how much we can do.

Aquaponic Growth in Honduras

Aquaponic Growth in Honduras

Love what's happening in the food growing world here in Honduras.

Smaller plant is April 8th and the bigger is April 28th. 15 flower buds as of this morning...going to have lots of watermelon.

This is only 20 days of growth. Imagine what we could do with more.

Honduras Mission update

Honduras Mission update

This is an update from our friend, Billy Chrzan, Connect Global's NEW Honduras Field Partner.

We are very excited about the opportunity to partner with Billy and believe that the best is yet to come with our efforts in Honduras through Aquaponics.

We are branching out and growing quick.

For this we need more teammates and sponsors.

So far we have built systems with the capacity to grow 2800 pounds of food (fish and vegetables) in a growing season...and we have 4 growing seasons here where we live...imagine the mouths that will be reached with quality, healthy, organic food grown with their help.

Due to this increase in systems ready to be built (26 so far) we at Crimson Outreach have teamed up with Connect Global.

The founders of Connect Global have been long time friends and we value their contributions to the needs of the hurting around the world.

Please welcome our new growth and partnership as it is God that set up this great collaboration.

ALSO COMING SOON:
As briefly mentioned above, we now have 26 systems that are either in design and planning stage, are funded and waiting, are still in the raising funds stage or already built and needing maintained.

26 systems will feed a great multitude of people. Some are small backyard systems and a few are community systems. Please join us as we conquer and cancel out the hunger in our area by teaching them to grow their own healthy vegetables with very little ground space and cost to work with. An Aquaponics system will give new crops year after year for decades to come.

For many of us, mosquitoes might seem more pests than predators. But in a large part of the world, particularly among the poor, mosquitoes are a blight.

There are more than 2,500 species of mosquito, and they’re found in every region of the world except Antarctica. During the peak breeding seasons, they outnumber every other animal on Earth, except termites and ants. Despite their innocuous-sounding name—Spanish for “little fly”—they carry devastating diseases.

The worst is malaria, which kills more than 600,000 people every year; another 200 million cases incapacitate people for days at a time.

"It threatens half of the world’s population and causes billions of dollars in lost productivity annually."
