The Connect Global Team has been investing in Aquaponics since our inception. On our First Official Trip as 'Connect Global' to Cusuna, Honduras we built 5 aquaponic systems. We have learned a lot since then, and our friend and partner Jorge Amador has built many more complete systems and taught several people his skills as well. We plan to build and facilitate an Aquaponic Training Center in Honduras soon.

Aquaponics Update from Connect Global in the wake of COVID-19

Since the founding of Connect Global we have focused on and invested in sustainable solutions to problems like food scarcity, and access to clean water. One of our continuing projects we are looking forward to expanding as a part of our overall strategy to serve those affected by COVID-19.

Aquaponics is a hybrid of hydroponic methods of growing healthy vegetables and growing an aqua culture such as tilapia. In this system we couple fast growing tilapia with leafy vegetation in one closed system connected by a series of basic plumbing.

In a small system like the ones here, the fish are used as a fertilizer for the vegetation which in turn pull nutrients out of the water and filter the water so that it can then be recycled back into the fish tank to help oxygenate the water. The Fish tank totals 450 gallons of water. This system utilizes 90 percent less water than traditional in ground gardening and the nutrient rich water is more sustainable than overly farmed top soil.

Connect Global is working to build 50 Urban Farm systems in and around La Ceiba.

We already have 3 in the works in La Ceiba, and one that Jorge Amador has been over seeing virtually in Costa Rica.

If you would like to help us make this happen you can donate towards our Urban Farm Project. All the proceeds will go towards the purchasing of materials, construction, and initial preparation & maintenance of these first 50 systems.

Our friend and National Director in Honduras, Jorge Amador, has been sharing his experience and expertise with others in a strategic effort to address issues like the lack of nutrition in Honduras

Connect Global continues to invest in Aquaponics because we know it works and we believe that sustainable solutions are the future.

We need to work together to challenge the status quo and bring this timeless technology to as many people as possible.

We invite you to help us spread the word and so we can continue to share these solutions with those in need. Many people have already benefited from these systems and we are anxious to get these tools into the hands of many more.

You can help Connect Global share Aquaponics with those in need in 2 ways.

  1. You can Sponsor a Single system by making a one time donation of $500

  2. You can sponsor our Aquaponics Program by committing to give regularly at any amount

Thank You for your generosity and compassion. Together we can help change the world.
