We have been renovating the space at DINAF one project at a time and supporting their efforts to create a safe, clean , and properly equipped organization.

Dirección Nacional de la Niñez y la Familia (DINAF)  a community organization charged with the enforcement of the protection of children, adolescents, and families has a regional office and primary school here in La Ceiba. Our teams have been partnering with DINAf since January, when The Mendoza Family moved to Honduras.

The Kids at DINAF are amazing to see.

Everytime we walk into their classrooms they are hard at study but still greet us gleefully. These kids are from Nursery age to Kindergarten. They deserve to study in a clean environment without the worry of getting hurt and that is some of the reason we support this organization.

A motivated and committed staff are keys to success

The Staff we have met are all very motivated to make this the best location possible for the children and families they serve. Every time Danielle and I have visited there has been something new or improved. Sometimes, the staff has even paid out of pocket for many of the things they severely need.

Their funding is low and inconsistent but they have done the very best with what they have. This makes us very happy to support their efforts here.

Our project Impact

During our July trip, our team delivered school supplies, and over a $1000 worth of food items to restock their empty pantry. We also had 6 ceiling fans installed, with new wiring for electrical in three classrooms. Our team repainted a classroom and several pieces of furniture for them as well.

The Kids still need about three more long tables ($60/ea), three more ceiling fans ($75/each), two bathroom doors replaced ($100/ea) as well as more classroom supplies like posters, books, whiteboards, and shelves.

They are also in need of long term volunteers to come and teach english and other subjects.
