Connect Global is taking time to honor and celebrate moms this month. We asked our moms (and several other moms we know) a few Questions to get a conversation started about what is important in life and what moms want to see in the world for themselves, and most importantly for their children. Hope you enjoy and please take a minute to ask your mom questions like these from time to time, you may be delightfully surprised by what you learn your mom!

Betty Moffitt

Betty has 2 sons, Terry Moffitt, and Travis Moffitt, and one daughter, Emily Sharp. Betty is married to Johnny Moffitt and together they operate a prison ministry in Dallas called Worldwide Voice In the Wilderness.

1. Describe a time in your life you really needed someone and they came through for you?

My mother always came to and did help me with every childbirth and beyond

2. Who is a woman in your life that has been especially influential in your life?

The female in my life who is been especially influential is Martha Brock

3. What books by female authors have you read, and what books did you find impactful?

A very influential author female author for me has been Francine Rivers and I get something out of all of her books.  They always carry a theme of redemption and forgiveness and the grace of God. The series that was the most impactful she did a little booklet series where she investigated the women in Jesus' past and I learned so much from that little series I think there's about five of them.

4. WHERE DO YOU DRAW ENCOURAGEMENT FROM?

  • The Bible
  • Music
  • Preaching
  • Teaching people
  • Other Christians at church
  • Listening to preaching
  • Travis

5. WHAT PROJECT, HOBBY, OR MISSION ARE YOU ESPECIALLY EXCITED ABOUT OR INVOLVED IN RIGHT NOW?

My current project is remodeling my guestroom.
I am really enjoying that and I'm eager to make it nice for all the wonderful people who come to see us.

My current mission is going to Cuba and I very excited about that. I know God is going to do something very special for all the Christians who gather in Cuba and I'm eager to see what God does.

6. WHAT DOES THE WORLD NEED MORE OF RIGHT NOW?

The world needs to see Jesus, accept His forgiveness, and be filled with His Spirit and His love

7. WHAT DO YOU WANT MOST FOR YOUR CHILDREN?

My lifelong prayer for [my children] is for them to love Jesus more than anything else in this world

8. NAME SOMETHING YOU BOUGHT FOR YOURSELF THAT YOU LOVE.

I deliberately try not to love things or to say I love things even to myself, But I really really really enjoy my one year Bible. I really enjoy my pool. I like my big round brush, my Vitamix and all the rocks that [my son] Terry polishes.

9. NAME 2 THINGS YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT MONEY COULDN’T BUY AND WHY THEY MEAN SO MUCH TO YOU.

My family and West Texas sunsets.
I love my family because I just do and they're my family.
I love West Texas sunsets because they're beautiful, magnificent, and they make me think of God and how wonderful and creative He is.

***By the way, I did not buy rocks for Terry to polish he bought them himself.
Maybe he buys them for me because he knows how much I like them but maybe for himself because he likes them too
