Backing the Blue in Honduras

In 2015, Connect Global launched an initiative in Honduras we call Connected Community. It’s our desire through this initiative to facilitate all of our projects in partnership with Local Schools, Churches, Businesses as well as other entities such as the hospitals and the local police departments

Building Community with the Police Department

We have chosen to focus on collaboration and partnership in order to not inadvertently promote our own agenda but that of the local community. We believe that by cultivating deep relationships at each of these community-led organizations we will be able to promote Honduras and propel the natural progress that is already happening. We do not want to create or perpetuate a relationship that is dependent on outsiders. By being both inclusive and diverse in our connections we are able to not only cultivate the best tactics but we also have the best opportunities to create natural and organic solutions to the issues that Honduras in facing.

One such connection we are working on is with the police department. We have completed a couple of service projects to the department with the intent to demonstrate our commitment to helping them in any way they need. On a previous trip we were able to do some simple renovations on their clinic and in July 2018 we plan to provide a CPR training for some of their officers. This was requested in order to properly train their officers in emergency trauma tactics for the times when their troops are out on missions and their brothers or sisters get injured and are not close to medical care. By providing this training to the officers we set them up to literally save lives in circumstances that may otherwise have fatal outcomes.

On our last trip, we visited the local police station and got to spend time with about 50 officers. We played games, chatted, and shared a meal together. We told them how much we cared for them. We know their job is difficult for many reasons such as funding, community relations, and the sheer amount of policing needed in some very dangerous areas.

We are so glad to be building a strong connection to this department and be able to share both tangible and spiritual support to the police of Honduras.

Will you help us Sponsor the next visit to the Police Department? A gift of any amount would go a long way and make a huge impact on the community of police officers!

The team got to spend the morning with the Police officers in La Ceiba. We shared Breakfast, Futbol, Prayer, and even the Chicken Dance with over 50 officers.
